- April – August 2024
- United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)
Project overview
I-WIN implemented the Justice and Confidence Centre (JCC) initiative to improve access to justice, legal awareness, psychosocial support and legal representation for vulnerable people across Warrap State. The project addressed barriers affecting women, girls, survivors of gender-based violence, older people, returnees and other marginalized groups.
Two Justice and Confidence Centres provided safe points of access to free legal advice, counselling, psychosocial care, legal representation and referrals.
Key achievements
The five-month project combined individual support with community outreach, justice actor training, detention visits and radio discussions to build understanding of legal rights and available services.

Legal support, awareness and care
Fifty vulnerable individuals received pro bono representation in criminal, civil, family and property cases. A further 316 people received legal advice, counselling and referrals, while 330 survivors took part in psychosocial support sessions focused on wellbeing, protection and referral pathways.
I-WIN trained 50 survivors on victim redress mechanisms, human rights, transitional justice and legal remedies. Thirty justice actors—including judges, prosecutors, police officers and traditional court members—built skills in victim-centered approaches.
Outreach reached 190 community members with information on human rights, child protection, GBV prevention, property rights and justice procedures. Prison and police visits reached 147 detainees and inmates. Radio discussions on Kuajok FM and Don Bosco Catholic Radio had an estimated reach of more than 2.5 million listeners.
